John Denver became a star through the folk-inspired songs he wrote, most of them located in Colorado. He was born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico he fell in affection with Colorado and then settled in Aspen. Denver's songs that he sang about his new state brought many people to Colorado. G. Brown of Colorado Music Hall of Fame, the hall's curator of fame said: "I don't believe there any other performer who embodies Colorado in the same way as John Denver." Denver was the very one of the first Hall of Fame inductee in 2011. Denver is the symbol of Colorado for many people all over the world. If you travel with me, you are likely to meet people from the other end of the world. As an example, you might meet an individual from New Zealand. And when you tell them you're Colorado-based, Colorado you will get "Oh John Denver!" Brown said. Take Me Home Country Roads is the only Denver Top 10 Hit as a Solo Artist following his time in small Folk Music Groups. The song was composed in collaboration with Bill Danoff. Danoff used Johnny Cash as the inspiration for the track, however Denver recognized that the song could become a smash hit when the song was first heard by him. The song was recorded by the singer just a few days later after performing it to crowds of enthusiastic fans in Washington D.C.
